Halloween Pumpkin Carving

萬聖節要到了跟著我來刻一個南瓜燈籠吧~~萬聖節快樂 :)

Halloween is here let's make a jack o' lantern~~ Happy Halloween :)

我一剛開始每一年看美國人的家裡外面都有擺設刻著鬼臉的南瓜燈籠,

很難以置信想說這麼難還可以刻的這麼好看 不會斷掉嗎？

也太厲害了吧 有一年就決定要來刻一個看看是有多難,
才發現這是可以完成的一件事情而且很好玩喔!!

我們一起來完成它吧!!

Every year when close to Halloween I saw lots of spooky jack o' lantern placing outside of  every American's house, wondering how do people did that without braking the pattern off from the pumpkin.  Then one year I deiced to try to carve a pumpkin myself and see how hard it is to make one,  

i realized it is actually achievable and it's really fun!!

Let's make it happen!!

This is the Pumpkin patch, where i pick up my pumpkins. Themes are set up every year for you to shop also having fun in there plus it's free admission. You can bring your kids for an adventure to  haunted house, poney ride, taking pictures with lots of pumpkins and of course pumpkin shopping.

有很多種形狀的南瓜,你可以先挑好你想要刻上去的圖案再去挑選南瓜. 挑選南瓜不需要都挑很完美圓潤的,你可以挑個奇形怪狀的來呈現你的南瓜燈籠效果也會很突出喔

Lots of different shapes of pumpkins, you can first decide the pattern you want to carve then go pick a unique one. Don't have to be the perfect shape, sometime people will choose a unique shape to create a distinctive one.

不只有大的南瓜還有這些小的南瓜可以當裝飾, 是不是也很可愛阿.

Not only the big pumpkins these are the small ones, you can have these to decorate. 

Aren't they adorable.

這些範本是我準備要刻在南瓜上面的圖案,還有一些雕刻的小工具我在Target超市買的,裡面還有很多的南瓜圖騰範本可以挑選還有說明書,不過如果你都不喜歡這些也可以去網路上面收尋你想要的圖案刻都可以

These are the patterns i am going to carve on my pumpkin, and the tools are the pumpkin carving stencils. This is the Kit i bought at Target, it comes with all the instructions inside the book and some examples of the patterns, or you can also go online to search for the pattern you want to cave on your pumpkin.

我們開始吧, 首先用刀子在蒂的周圍切一個方形, 接著把裡面的籽都清掉, 

用長得像湯匙的小工具把裡面”牆壁“刮平

Let's begin. First, use knife to cut a square around the stem, then pull out all the seeds, use the scraping tool to smooth out the "wall" inside.

把紙張減小一點,然後在邊邊的地方剪個幾條直線進去好方便折.接著用膠帶粘上南瓜.

用小工具附有的尖尖戳洞把圖型刻出來.

Cut the pattern to a smaller sheet of paper then cut the corner straight in to make it easy to fold. Then stick it on pumpkin using tape.

Use the pointy stencil tool to poke out the pattern.

用小鋸齒的工具慢慢的刻出形狀

(注意記得要慢慢刻不然很容易就會刻斷)

Use the stencil knife to slowly carve out the patterns. 

(Make sure you do it slow so you won't cut off the design.)

A Beautiful Room Make Over

A Room make over is easy and it's inexpensive at the same time, you'll just need to know where to go get these small renovation produces.

These small changes will transform the whole look of your bedroom at the same time you are still in your budget.

Before all of these small renovation produces, my room just look as plan as a white empty room.      The room looks clean but just lack of some color splash to spice up the color combination.

And then i decide to change the whole look of my room to make it cozy, the color combination i choose are Turquoise and Purplish Pink, these two colors are my most favorit colors, and they go so well together.

First, i pick up a Turquoise duvet set in Target it was $99.90, but i got it on sale at $59.99 which is a really good deal of that. The pattern looks settle and splash clean at the same time, not too busy, just right!! Gives me a bubble feeling and want to jump right in. 

The Second thing i pick up are the lamp set at the Homegoods. I have to say Homegoods stores are my favorit place to go for my home interior stuff and kitchen gadgets. They have tons of "home goods" you can mix and match with what you have at home. The price is also looking good too, they almost have everything 40% off or even 50% off sometimes. Also the merchandise goes so fast they almost have new things everyday every time you shop there. So i pick up this Turquoise lamp set with the crystal setting to match me bed color.

Last but not least, I got this soft and beautiful flower painting with gold accents words. I also bought this beautiful painting at the Homegoods store, but this is not a easy one, i waited for quite sometime to find my perfect painting that i will look at it everyday and love it every time i see it. I was planning to get three medium size painting to across the wall above the bed. But it is too hard to get a matching three paintings and beautiful at the same time, i am still searching it :)  I am so happy that i end up getting this oversize soft and beautiful painting to hang above the wall. and it also makes it look like i had a head borad. This oversize painting balance out everything together and makes it a grand room.

 

This is for my winter time bedroom, i know the light Turquoise will even give the cold feeling, it actually won't.  It feels more like summer warmth, but hey who doesn't love summer time all that vivid color.

Even my dog loves to stay in my bed. It's a she, her name is Chewy :) She gets so exciting every time i let her up on my bed, i guess she really like the new renovation. 

Another color splash i got for this summer is this yellow cover sheet and some pillow to go with it. But this time when i pick up the colors, i pick from what i have on the painting to match everything and make it a whole look.  You can also pick from your favorit pieces and make it your color combination.

You dont want to put too many colors in because it will give it too busy.  So, i choose the yellow cover sheet, this color match the gold accents on my painting, they will match together and make it flow. 

The gold pattern on my pink pillow is also match the painting gold accents words. So now everything goes together and every color flows, that makes another feeling of the room. Just by color changing gives you a whole different look of another bedroom, seems like i have two completely different room, but the things i use are just easy to change.

So now you can get an idea of where i get all these goodies at, and if i can do it you can do it too, trust yourself let's make your own room the happiest place.  :)
